What is a teacher?
- The greek word for teacher is didaskahlos
- Meaning doctor , teacher,master,instructor
- So basically you are well read and well informed on a subject than those who are subject to you.
The ultimate teacher
- The lead teacher if we must say is jesus , he is the high priest
- It is from him we learn
- Jesus was able to live a holy , perfect life
- He had the flesh he did not just teach the word he lived it
- He faced the same temptation, the same struggles we faced
- He fought and he won when he died he conqured left us the holy spirit, by whom we can achieve the same level of perfection that Jesus lives.
How to be a good teacher
- Our flesh , our bodies are sin prone, we desire it we want it
- It is only through the holy spirit that wea are able to have a filter and live by the spirit, galatians 5 vs16 ,17
- We are at constant war with the flesh , so we have to train our soul(fleshly man to submit to the holy spirit) if we bring the soul to the submission of the holy spirit we can be holy (2 corrinthians 10vs 5).
- We are in this consistent tug where the devil and the world are trying to capture our souls but its about staying in strong communion with the holy spirit inorder to overcome the flesh just as jesus did
- This is through consecration,prayer and fasting
- Consecration because we have to set ourselves apart from the world, be different, stay in communion with God that’s where you are refined by the fire that removes impurities, fast to weaken the flesh and bring it under obedience to the holy spirit.
- We have to watch ourselves and keep parying and keep standing because the moment we falter, the moment we relax , we give room for the enemy to come in.We have to be gentle and understanding towards the students and the ignorant understanding that we ourselves are prone to weakness therefore always relying on God to guide us to holiness, those who follow us we should also gently guide back to the truth just as Christ guides us when we fall.
- Do not call yourself to be a teacher, its an honour received by a calling from God.
- We have to be obedient to God ,which we learn through suffering, its when our flesh suffers and dies our spirit is strong and obedient to God
- Do not ever stop learning from God, always stay humble to be taught, be in training becoming mature in christ
- You cannot remain at the same level as a baby , but be mature in the word.
